Effective Teaching, Effective Learning in the Quantitative Disciplines

Professional Development free for Australian Mathematical Society members

AMSLaTNet

The FREE (for Australian Mathematical Society members) on-line professional development unit Effective Teaching, Effective Learning in the Quantitative Disciplines will be offered once again this year, running for the fourth time. The course was originally developed under an ALTC (now OLT) grant, by a team of mathematicians. In 2014, Macquarie University and La Trobe University will be coordinating the unit. It is designed both for tutors/sessional academics and for lecturers who are actively engaged in teaching.

You can find out more about the contents of the unit by going to the AustMS website: http://www.austms.org.au/Professional+Development+Unit
Some institutions also allow this unit to be substituted for more generic T&L courses in Graduate Certificate programs.

The unit commenced in late February for first semester participants, but it is also intended to run in second semester.

Contact the unit coordinator Dr Katherine Seaton k.seaton@latrobe.edu.au for more details.
