ASBERGER’S SYNDROME AND MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENTS @ UNSW Sydney

This Friday we have an unusual teaching and learning seminar in the theme of considering the welfare of our students. I am hoping we may have more in this theme. Any suggestions from you are always welcome for a speaker or a general topic for this seminar series.

Peter Donovan will present a Teaching and Learning Seminar  on Friday 13th April at 4pm in RC-4082. Everyone is welcome to attend and to join in further discussion after the seminar over wine and cheese in the staff common room.

Title: ASBERGER’S SYNDROME AND MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENTS

Speaker: Peter Donovan, UNSW Sydney

Time and Place: 4pm, RC-4082, Friday 13th April.

Abstract This personal account is an effort to explain some aspects of a distinctive minority characteristic which is  associated with being male and correlates  with ability in the physical sciences. Asberger’s syndrome occurs with a range of degrees of severity and is no doubt modified by the upbringing an individual receives from his or her parents. Visible signs include physical and social gaucheness.
