Subject Group Leader (Mathematics) @ Sheffield Hallam University

We are looking for a Subject Group Leader to build on the Mathematics group’s excellent achievements and provide academic leadership. You will be required to line manage and develop the group, and also make a significant contribution to the departmental leadership team. You must also be research active with high quality publications. Creating Knowledge is a strategic pillar of the University strategy and there is an established route for academic progression to readership and professorship.

It is essential you demonstrate a clear vision for the academic leadership and development of the subject discipline in both teaching and research. You must have experience of successful strategic development at course or subject level and have the ability to lead the activities of the group.

Excellent people management skills are vital to this role. These include: the ability to establish good working relationships, persuade others, manage performance, and resolve conflict effectively. You may be required to represent the head of department at various national Mathematical Sciences groups, attend professional bodies events and engage in national and international initiatives.

This role provides opportunities for those with an established research profile to maintain and deliver high level research outputs as well as providing the support for those with the ambition and research profile to become either a Professor or Reader of Mathematics.
