The University of Chicago Department of Mathematics invites applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer. The primary responsibility is teaching and curriculum development for courses intended to teach mathematical methods to undergraduates majoring in the physical sciences. Additional responsibilities are likely to include involvement in the mathematics placement process for first year students, student advising, and supervision of course assistants.

Ideal applicants are mathematicians or applied mathematicians, at least several years into their careers beyond the PhD. They must have exceptional competence in teaching, and strong organizational and leadership skills. Background knowledge in the physical sciences, and experience teaching applications of mathematical methods in that domain are preferred.

The Senior Lecturer appointment is an untermed appointment with no set end date but is subject to review every three years. The position is expected to begin July 1, 2019 or soon thereafter.
