The first workshop was held at The University of Melbourne, Parkville on Friday 21 June 2013. Over 30 participants from universities across Australia and New Zealand attended, representing a cross-section of maths academics with a wide variety of roles in teaching first-year mathematics and statistics.
The workshop confirmed the need for a network with participants finding common ground on many issues that have national implications, such as high school prerequisites, the general decline in quantitative skills and increasing student diversity.
