Head of the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics @ Oxford Brookes Uni, UK

Oxford Brookes University is seeking to appoint the founding Head of the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. The new School is being created from the merger of the existing departments of Computing and Communication Technologies and Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and will have around 1000 students and 60 academic staff.

The Head will be responsible for all aspects of the School’s work and will join the University at a particularly exciting time as the School will be relocating to a new building on the Headington campus by 2021/22. We have a clear vision for this new building and the transformational changes to teaching and learning that will be achieved. The Head of School will play a central role in developing detailed plans for the building and leading the change agenda.

An opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to work within the School of Social and Community Medicine at the University of Bristol.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join a research team based in the School of Social and Community Medicine. The post is available from 1 February 2017 until 30 January 2018 funded through a grant from the US National Institute of Health, and is meant to provide a good opportunity for obtaining research training or experience. The post will develop new infectious disease models on the transmission of HIV amongst female sex workers and other risk groups in Tijuana, Mexico.

You will join a collaborative team of mathematical modellers, epidemiologists, social scientists and health economists interested in the transmission dynamics of blood borne viruses, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other infections. As part of these projects you will be primarily involved in the technical aspect of the modelling, and will collaborate with other modellers, economists and epidemiologists involved in this and other projects.
