Lecturer (Tertiary Preparation Mathematics) @ USQ, Brisbane

A rewarding opportunity is now available for a Lecturer (Tertiary Preparation Mathematics) to teach into the mathematics component of the Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP), the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program and the Foundation Diploma Program. In addition, you will:

  • work with a team of academic staff to develop flexible support strategies and appropriate curriculum for tertiary preparation mathematics students;
  • provide advice and support to both students and staff in the development of students’ mathematics skills;
  • work directly with on-campus, online and distance education students of the OAC;
  • provide teaching services in other OAC teaching programs in accordance with your expertise; and
  • engage in research projects and scholarship activities.

Whilst the position is based at USQ Springfield or USQ Ipswich, there may be a requirement to work some days at other USQ locations.

A rewarding opportunity is now available for a motivated and passionate Senior Education Lecturer to make a significant contribution to the delivery of Mathematics Curriculum and Pedagogy courses underpinned by the Australian Curriculum at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  In particular, you will:

  • Plan and deliver course materials in lectures, tutorials and workshops in on-campus and online modes of learning and teaching;
  • Initiate and provide leadership in the development of course materials, including the review and development of course material in collaboration with other academic and professional staff;
  • Supervise students completing honours research projects, postgraduate coursework projects, and postgraduate research projects;
  • Work closely with schools and community agencies to promote and enhance mathematics teaching;
  • Engage in research that leads to demonstrable and reportable outcomes including the publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals; and
  • Providing support and direction to students as well as other academics.

Educational Designer (3 positions) @ USQ, Ipswich/Toowoomba

A unique opportunity has become available within the newly established Office for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (ALT) team for three Educational Designers to work collaboratively with academics in the provision of hands on support to design and develop courses that provide stimulating, engaging and effective learning experiences for students.

In carrying out this role, you will:

  • Provide in-depth advice, training and support to USQ academics within the designated discipline areas to enhance educational effectiveness of their teaching and learning designs and teaching approaches;
  • Work collegially and constructively with the Advancement of Learning and Teaching teams;
  • Maintain up-to-date working knowledge and expertise in relation to educational technologies and contemporary learning theories, models and practices and provide advice and contribution as required; and
  • Participate in an EDD culture of research and evidence based practice, contributing scholarly work in the field of educational design and using this scholarship to inform and innovate EDD practices.

These positions will work as part of a team of Educational Designers, with each Designer supporting one of the following disciplines:

  • Management, Commerce and Law (Springfield or Toowoomba based)
  • Creative Arts, Society and Culture (Toowoomba based)
  • Sciences and Health (Ipswich or Toowoomba based)

Associate Director (Educational Excellence and Innovation) @ USQ, Toowoomba

Reporting to the Director (Advancement of Learning and Teaching), you will contribute to policy development and management, high level planning and reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, making evidence based decisions on service improvements and innovations. As an academic researcher, you will progress the evidence base for academic learning and educational leadership, and grounded in this evidence be responsible for delivering client-centred programs, services and resources in partnership with the University’s academics and administrators. In particular, you will:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Educational Excellence and Innovation (EEI) team to ensure the ongoing development of the EEI team, building workforce capacity for future needs, managing performance, and implementing effective change management;
  • Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of academic learning and educational leadership programs, resources and services across USQ;
  • Work collegially and constructively with key University stakeholders in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of EEI’s practices to support and advance learning and teaching within the University;
  • Appreciate the diverse needs of EEI’s clients such as sessional teachers, early and mid-career as well as senior academics, academic administrators, and professional staff, and promote an integrated matrix service environment to support these constituencies effectively;
  • Develop and maintain an evidence base to monitor and evaluate EEI’s service performance and report on performance; and
  • Conduct high quality nationally competitive research within the area of higher education generally, and academic learning and educational leadership specifically, that delivers impacts and outcomes to USQ, the higher education section, community and other relevant stakeholders.

Reporting to the Associate Director (Educational Excellence and Innovation), your key focus in this Research and Teaching role will be to work collaboratively to develop, implement and review programs, resources and services aimed at supporting the development and learning needs of academics in regard to their learning and teaching practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and review of programs, resources and services aimed at supporting the development and learning needs of academics in their learning and teaching practice;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of programs, resources and services aimed at recognising and rewarding outstanding contributions to the enhancement of teaching and students’ experience of learning;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of programs, resources and services aimed at promoting scholarship of learning and teaching, and to enhance teaching and learning related networks and collaborations including staff access to competitive learning and teaching development funds and grants; and
  • Establish and manage effective service support orientated relationships with USQ academics and the key university administers to understand the range and diversity of academic development and learning needs of specific discipline groups and to ensure responsiveness to client needs.
